Real Crowd ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Real Crowd mobile application (the "Service"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and password. If you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple ID and optionally your name and email.
  • Profile Data: You may optionally add a bio, profile photo, and social media handles to your profile.
  • User Content: Photos you upload during check-ins, captions, and any other content you choose to share.
  • Social Interactions: Vibe checks (pings) you send to other users at venues, including the sender, recipient, and venue information.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Location Data: With your explicit permission, we collect your precise location only when you use location-based features such as finding nearby venues or checking in. We do not collect location data in the background.
  • Check-in Data: When you check in to a place, we record the venue, time of check-in, and duration of your visit.
  • Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting and compatibility purposes.

1.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • Financial or payment information
  • Health or fitness data
  • Contacts or address book data
  • Browsing history outside the app
  • Advertising identifiers (IDFA) or tracking data
  • Background location data

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide the Service: Show nearby venues, display crowd levels, enable check-ins, and power place recommendations.
  • Enable Social Features: Allow you to see who is checked in at a place, view public profiles, and share photos.
  • Improve the Service: Analyze aggregated usage patterns to enhance features, fix bugs, and improve performance.
  • Safety & Security: Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, spam, or violations of our Terms of Service.

3. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do NOT sell your personal information. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

We may share information only in these limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers: We use Supabase for secure data storage, authentication, and hosting of user data. Your data is processed in accordance with their privacy standards.
  • Public Profile Information: Your display name, avatar, bio, and social links (if enabled) are visible to other users of the app. You control this via your profile settings.
  • Check-in Visibility: When you check in to a place, other users at that place can see your display name and avatar.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information when required by law, legal process, or government request, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of our users or the public.

Important: We use Supabase to store user profiles, check-ins, and location data. This is the primary data store for user information used by the app and must be disclosed.

4. Your Privacy Controls

4.1 Location

  • You can enable or disable location permissions at any time through your device's Settings.
  • Location is collected only while you use the app (foreground only) โ€” never in the background.
  • If you disable location, some features like nearby venue discovery will be unavailable, but you can still browse venues by city.

4.2 Profile Visibility

  • Choose whether to display your social media handles publicly via the "Show Socials" toggle in your profile settings.
  • Update or remove your bio, avatar, and social links at any time.

4.3 Photos

  • Photo library access is requested only when you choose to upload a photo. We do not access your photo library without your action.

4.4 Blocking & Reporting

  • You can block other users to prevent them from seeing your check-ins at a place.
  • You can report users for inappropriate behavior through in-app tools.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

  • Account Deletion: You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings > Delete Account. This removes your profile, check-in history, photos, and all associated data from our servers.
  • Individual Content: You can delete individual check-in photos at any time.
  • Retention Period: We retain your data only as long as your account is active. After account deletion, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

  • All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS/SSL)
  • Authentication is handled through secure, industry-standard protocols
  • Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
  • Row-level security policies ensure users can only access their own data
  • API keys and secrets are stored securely on the server, never in the app

Real Crowd is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. 9. International Data Transfers

Our Service is operated from Saudi Arabia. If you access the Service from outside Saudi Arabia, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries where our service providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to such transfers.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by:

  • Posting the updated policy on this page
  • Updating the "Last Updated" date above
  • In-app notification for significant changes
